The Gateway City
Located midway between Detroit and Chicago, Sturgis is blessed with a prime southwest Michigan location in St. Joseph County and has officially be shristened "The Gateway City."
Its central location puts Sturgis within driving distance of several major cities; Chicago and Detroit are two hours away, with Grand Rapids and Toledo, Ohio, both around 140 miles from town. Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Fort Wayne, and South Bend are all only an hour's drive or less from Sturgis, offering plenty of options for business connections or day trips.
Beyond roadways, Sturgis has other transportation options including business rail access through Michigan Southern Roalroad Company and air access via the City's Kirsch Municipal Airport. Conveniently located close to Sturgis are three commercial airports: Kalamazoo, just 45 miles to the north; South Bend, 45 miles to the west; and Fort Wayne, 50 miles to the south.
